Many parents are faced with the daily decision of packing healthy lunches for their children or allowing him/her to eat the school lunch. With recent changes to school lunch requirements, this should be a much easier decision. Mrs. Obama (The First Lady) helped pass The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. This act puts much stricter requirements on school lunches enforced by the USDA.

Take a moment to look at your child’s lunch menu. You will notice many healthy choices including whole grains, low fat and fat free milk, fresh fruits and vegetables and proteins. Many schools also offer nutritious breakfast choices each morning. Many teachers are allowing water bottles in the classrooms to promote hydration. Help your children make great food choices each day that will last them a lifetime.

If you prefer to make lunches for your children you can control what they eat and how much protein, carbohydrates and fat you pack in their lunches.
We created a Pinterest board so you can continue to come up with great recipes for your children’s lunches.
