We’ve all heard the great debate regarding breastfeeding vs. formula. “Breastfeeding is better for the baby.”, or “Formula is just as beneficial as breastfeeding”. If you can breastfeed…..go for it! If not…it’s okay! Some mothers do both. The great thing is that modern day formulas provide us with many options. Isn’t that wonderful? Formulas contains DHEA, essential vitamins and minerals for brain growth and eye health.

These days, formulas are amazing! Not every mother can breastfeed due to illness, decreased lactation, etc. Also, if a mother isn’t eating well to provide healthy breast milk, what is the point? That’s where the formula comes in. Formulas consistently provide vitamins, iron, protein and minerals for this growing child.

Some babies do not tolerate certain formulas due to allergies, reflux and colic. The same goes for breast milk. Each mother must determine what is beneficial for their particular child. And, even if you were able to breastfeed one or two of your children, you may not be able to breastfeed the next. Every baby’s needs are unique. Every mother’s needs are unique. Talk to your pediatrician and decide what is best for you and your child. Don’t feel guilty. If they’re eating and growing, isn’t that what really matters?
